ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – After a gloomy Monday, sunshine will return to the region on Tuesday as high pressure builds in.

Chilly conditions are expected during the nighttime hours, but temperatures will rebound during the afternoon.

Winds will be calmer on Tuesday, but a bit gusty from time to time. Sustained winds should remain less than 10 mph but some occasional 15 to 20 mph gusts are possible.

Temperatures will remain near to above average for the work week, but cooler air arrives again on Sunday.

The warm air will move in as a dip in the jet stream retreats to the north, allowing for a southerly and warm wind to develop.
