ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Sunshine will be with us to start the day on Thursday, but clouds will start to roll in ahead of a cold front. The front arrives Friday night into Saturday bringing the chance for spotty showers and colder air.

As the jet stream dives to the south, colder air will filter in from Canada for Saturday through Monday where temperatures only top out in the 60s.

Sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph and gusts of 30 to 35 mph will make it feel cooler.

Temperatures for the middle of next week will begin to rise again starting on Tuesday.

Until the front arrives, warm air will remain in place for the remainder of the work week.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Philippe remains disorganized with winds of 40 mph.
