Showers and possibly a couple of thunderstorms could return to the region overnight, mainly after 3 a.m. As temperatures rise on Thursday, instability will build leading to the risk of thunderstorms. Some of those storms could become severe. Strong winds are the main threat. In Southside, an isolated tornado is possible, but higher chances should stay in North Carolina.

By Thursday evening, storms should move out of the region with partly to mostly cloudy conditions expected.

With humidity returning to the region, there will be a slight increase in the heat index by afternoon.

Temperatures will be a little below average for Thursday, but for Friday and the weekend, we are back above average with temperatures for the weekend in the low 90s.
