ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A cold front will move through the region, dropping temperatures and bringing some much-needed rain.

Temperatures will start the day in the 50s and 60s while ending the day in the 40s and 50s.

The front will bring some much-needed rain to the region. The moisture is coming front the Pacific which is not a favorable area for bringing heavy rain to Virginia.

More rain is needed as drought conditions continue to worsen. Most of the region is in a moderate drought with parts of the Highlands and Shenandoah Valley in severe to extreme.

Behind the front, cooler air will return for the weekend and first half of next week. Aside from Friday, dry conditions will return through Wednesday.
