This week also kicks off National Reading Month, which is meant to encourage literacy.
Read Across America Day — held annually on March 2 — has long been associated with Dr. Seuss because it falls on his birthday.
Numerous school districts across southwest and central Virginia — as well as a fire department — have also announced dress-up days, held virtual reading sessions, and more in honor of Read Across America Day:
