The Bedford Police Department is investigating a hit and run that involved a pedestrian.
It happened on April 30 at the intersection of West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike and Wheatland Road.
A paper carrier found a woman in the road who was hurt, she was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
The woman was able to tell police that she was walking on Route 460 when a white tractor trailer hit her and did not stop. She also said she had been on the ground for about 15 to 20 minutes before being found by the paper carrier.

On 04/30/2018 at approximately 0500 hours Bedford Police Department was called to the intersection of West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike(Route 460) and Wheatland Road for a female that was down on the ground screaming for help. The female was found by a paper carrier delivering newspapers, who called 911. Officers arrived and called an ambulance for the female who was obviously injured. The female was taken to Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and treated for her injuries. The female reported to Officers at the scene and investigators this week that she was walking west on 460 and a white tractor trailer struck her causing the injuries and the vehicle continued on 460. The female was unable to give any other identifying marks of the vehicle other than it being a white tractor trailer. The female stated that she had been on the ground for approximately 15-20 minutes prior to the paper carrier finding her. This incident could have occurred anywhere from 0430-0500 on 04/30/2018.
Bedford Police Department continues to investigate this incident and would appreciate any assistance with identifying the vehicle that may have been involved.
