Pedestrian dies after getting hit by two cars in Roanoke

A man was killed after getting hit by two vehicles in Roanoke. 

It happened on March 30, just after 6:15 am on Elm Avenue, S.E. near 4th Street. 

62-year-old Gregory Wilson was trying to cross Elm Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle that was turning west onto Elm Avenue from 4th Street.  

Mr. Wilson was then hit by a second vehicle that was also going west on Elm Avenue.  

Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.  

Mr. Wilson died at the hospital on April 2.

On March 30, 2018 at 6:17 am, Roanoke Police responded to Elm Avenue S.E. regarding a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian has been identified as Gregory L. Wilson age 62, of Roanoke. Wilson was attempting to cross Elm Avenue just west of 4th Street and was struck by a vehicle that was turning westbound onto Elm Avenue from 4th Street, Mr. Wilson was then struck by a second vehicle that was also traveling west on Elm Avenue. Both drivers remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Mr. Wilson was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire and Ems.

Mr. Wilson died as a result of his injuries on April 2, 2018. Traffic Investigators are still investigating this incident and will present the findings to the Commonwealth Attorneys office.
