MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Patrick Henry Community College’s Patriot Players seeks actors for their upcoming spring production of “Sister Act”, based-off the iconic 1992 hit-movie.

“For those who rejoice over a good harmony, gospel music, and outrageous 1970’s disco dancing, Sister Act is the show to join,” according to a PHCC statement.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 1-5 p.m. at the Walker Student Center Theater on campus. Audition registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and auditions will happen in the order they arrive.

Actors must be ready to sing. Performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song that showcases their vocal range and abilities. There will not be an accompanist at the audition. So, performers can sing a capella or bring an MP3 instrumental track for accompaniment.

Those auditioning must be over 16. Openings include key roles such as Deloris, Curtis, and Sweaty Eddie.

“The cast list features a wide variety of principal roles for a range of ages, body types, and ethnicities,” according to the Players statement.

Rehearsals tentatively begin Monday, Feb. 24, and the show opens on April 16 and runs for two weekends.
