MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Patrick Henry Community College is the first institution in Virginia to be certified by the Transatlantic Business and Investment Council, or TBIC.

Four of PHCC’s technology and engineering related programs were assessed. These programs were Industrial Electronics Technology, General Engineering Technologies, Applied Mechatronics, and Precision Machining.

TBIC’s certification deems these programs as beneficial to the local economic ecosystem and produce graduates ready to enter the workforce.

TBIC recognizes the affordable local training offered by community colleges as a crucial part of economic development. TBIC wants its certification program to help promote transatlantic trade and help bridge the gap between North American Economic Development Organizations and European companies wanting to enter the U.S. market.
