SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, Va. (WFXR) — Ahoy, matey, you aRRRe almost out of time to sign up for “Pancakes with Pirates” — a family-oriented breakfast celebrating Pirate Days at Smith Mountain Lake!
Pancakes with Pirates will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 17 at Mexico Viejo at Bridgewater Plaza.
Organizers say volunteers in pirate costumes will be flipping the flapjacks and posing for photos with attendees, who are also encouraged to dress up in pirate costumes.
In addition, there will be activities for kids, including face painting, balloon animals, interactions with pirates, and the opportunity to pick from a treasure chest.
The cost for the event — which features pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and coffee — is $10, but children age 5 and under are admitted for free.
“This was a popular family event in 2019 when we first held it so we’re super excited to bring it back this year,” said Erin Stanley, Member Relations and Events Director for the SMLRCC. “It’s a great way for the Chamber to participate in Pirate Days, which gets better every year, bringing in more and more tourists, which benefits our area businesses.”
This pancake breakfast is being held as part of Pirate Days, a weekend of festivities planned at various locations on and off Smith Mountain Lake.
As of Tuesday, July 13, the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce says Pancakes with Pirates is almost sold out, so follow this link if you want to buy tickets.
