Pain at the pump: Motorists across southwest Virginia dealing with gas shortages

Local News

(WFXR) — Several gas stations in southwest Virginia — including Kroger Gas near the Towers Shopping Center in Roanoke — say they’re completely out of fuel.

Meanwhile, many of the stations that still have gas have been forced to raise their prices.

This news comes as prices are surging at grocery stores, car dealers, and electronic stores. In addition, empty shelves and shortages continue to rise as dozens of container ships wait to unload on the California coast.

The Labor Department says Americans are paying five percent more than they were a year ago.

According to the White House, it is addressing the issues fueled by the coronavirus pandemic, a labor shortage, and increased demand.
