UPDATE: Trauma victim released from hospital after incident at Georgia-Pacific

BIG ISLAND, Va. - UPDATE (7/16/2018 11:12 AM) -- Georgia-Pacific confirms the person injured in a trauma incident was treated on Sunday night and released Monday morning.

The company says the employee is doing well, after receiving a laceration to his arm.

It remains unclear what caused the incident, the company is still investigating.


One person is injured after crews responded to a trauma incident at Georgia Pacific Corporation. 

Bedford County Dispatch says crews were called just after noon Sunday to respond to the plant. 

They say one person was injured and flown to the hospital in a helicopter. 

According to the Big Island Volunteer Fire Company's twitter, they responded for an injured arm. 

Bedford County Dispatch says the scene is now cleared. 

They say OSHA and the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry have both been notified about the incident.
