Wythe County authorities holding toy drive for kids devastated by tornadoes in Kentucky

WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office will be collecting toys this week for kids in western Kentucky that lost their homes due to the devastating tornadoes last week.

New, unwrapped toys in their original packaging will be accepted Friday, Dec. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the Walmart in Wytheville.

The toys will be placed in police cars parked in front of Walmart and then delivered to the Harlan, KY State Police Post to be distributed to kids impacted by last week’s tornadoes in western Kentucky.

Here’s a list of needed items:

  • Ages in need: Infant to teenager
  • Eligible items: Toys, books, electronics, and $25 VISA or Mastercard gift cards

Clothes are not needed at this time.
