ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Deputies with the Giles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call Saturday afternoon that ended up being an alleged shooting.
According to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in around 12:27 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, from a man complaining of shortness of breath in a residence in the 100 block of Royal Drive in Pembroke.
When medical personnel arrived, they found Donald Eugene Collins, 60, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
While at the home, EMTs also found a 64-year-old woman who was dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The Giles County Sheriff’s Office has not released the identity of the woman.
Collins was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to deputies, they have obtained warrants for Donald Collins for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Virginia State Police is assisting with the investigation into the alleged shooting.
