PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Critzer Elementary School in Pulaski County will have an asynchronous virtual day on Tuesday following the death of a young student earlier this month.

The virtual day is set for Tuesday, Dec. 14 to allow faculty and staff members to participate in a private memorial service for Auston Wingo, according to Pulaski County Public Schools.

However, all other schools in the county will operate on a regular schedule on Tuesday.

Authorities say Wingo was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a Pulaski County YMCA on Dec. 6. First responders were called out to the YMCA for a possible drowning, and the 5-year-old was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died later that night.

School officials ask community members to keep Wingo’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
