BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Tech Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure and Faculties has announced that steam ventilation has been scheduled at the Virginia Tech Power Plant next week, which could produce an elevated noise level around the plant.

This will occur if the weather is unseasonably warm and is due to the commissioning of the plant’s new boiler.

Should this occur, those around the area can expect the following:

  • Possible elevated noise levels close to the power plant and in the surrounding area
  • Possible intermittent noise will be limited to normal work hours (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.) Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16.
  • All efforts will be made to reduce noise levels as much as possible.
