UPDATE: Vehicle fire cleared on I-77 in Carroll County

UPDATE 5:35 p.m.: The vehicle fire on I-77 north in Carroll County has been cleared.

Traffic will continue to thin out and should return to normal shortly.


UPDATE 5:05 p.m.: Backups are mounting behind a vehicle fire on I-77 north in Carroll County.

VDOT says that traffic is backed up around two miles behind the incident which is located at mile marker 8.7 – near Fancy Gap.

Drivers can expect increasing delays if traveling in this area.


CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A vehicle fire is causing slowdowns for commuters along a stretch of I-77 north in Carroll County.

According to VDOT, the incident is located at mile marker 8.7.

VDOT cameras indicate the left lane is open and traffic is moving; however, the right lane and right shoulder are closed.

Drivers can expect delays if traveling in this area.
