UPDATE: Pulaski County man out of hospital, jailed and charged after allegedly robbing gas station

New River Valley News

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – In an update to a story from earlier in October, a man is in jail after being hospitalized when a “brave Samaritan” fought back a robber at a Pulaski County gas station.

David Lee Simpkins has been jailed, without bond and is being charged with one count of armed robbery for the alleged incident.

According to court documents in Roanoke Circuit Court, Simpkins matches the description of a person wanted in connection to this robbery as well as five to seven other robberies along the I-81 corridor.

As WFXR News previously reported, the Commonwealth’s Attorney praised what he called a “brave Samaritan” for jumping into action after Simpkins reportedly robbed the gas station.
