PULASKI COUNTY Va. (WFXR) — Pulaski County authorities say a man is facing several charges — including murder — after a woman was found dead early Sunday morning.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the 8200 block of Parrott River Road around 4 a.m. on Sunday, May 23 for a possible homicide.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a female victim, who was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
According to officials, the investigation determined the victim, Anna Amburgey, was involved in a physical disturbance with the suspect, Corey Wayne Hodge, which led to Amburgey’s death.
Hodge left the scene, sparking a manhunt on Sunday, but he was reportedly tracked down by the Pulaski Police Department on Oakhurst Avenue.
Authorities say Hodge was charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He was then held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.
“Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Radford City Police Department, Dublin Police Department, Pulaski Police Department, Virginia State Police, Blacksburg Police Department, Christiansburg Police Department, Pulaski County Emergency Medical Services, Pulaski County Emergency Management & Twin Community Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Monday, May 24.
