BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Blacksburg Police Department reports that two people have been hospitalized after multiple, but separate shootings that occurred on Saturday afternoon.

Around 1:51 p.m. on Feb. 18, officers responded to Bluestone Lane for a person with a gunshot wound. On the scene, they found an unidentified man on a sidewalk with injuries to his leg and arm. While EMT crews were en route to assist, officers immediately began administering first aid. The victim was then taken to the Lewis-Gale-Montgomery Hospital for further treatment.

During the investigation, officers were then dispatched to the 1800 block of Whipple Drive where a second gunshot victim was found at a second, separate crime scene. The second victim was also transported to the Lewis-Gale-Montgomery Hospital for treatment.

Both victims’ conditions are unknown at this time. Investigators believe the victims are acquaintances and the two incidents are related. They say there is no further threat to the community.
