CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Twin County Drug Task Force arrested two people following a narcotics investigation earlier this month.

On July 2, authorities say they responded to the 680 block of Wolf Pen Ridge Road in the Pipers Gap Community after receiving information that 50-year-old David Scott Hodges of Galax, was a subject in the investigation.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found Hodges, who showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Hodges argued his 4th Amendment to search and seizure, and when asked if there were drugs at the location or on his person, he replied that they were in his residence.

Hodges told deputies he stayed at the residence with 44-year-old Hollie Lynn Bedsaul of Galax, and her child. After officials questioned Hodges, he emptied his pockets, one of which contained a white crystal substance he told officers was methamphetamine. Hodges told deputies he drank 12 beers and smoked meth that day.

Upon investigation of the residence, crews found a rifle, a bag containing a crystal substance, a glass plate with a white crystal substance, and a smoking device. Social Services was contacted for custody of the child and Hodges was placed under arrest.

Crews found and stopped the vehicle Bedsaul was operating. In speaking with Bedsaul, they discovered she had left to get more meth and also partook in drinking alcohol and meth with Hodges. Bedsaul was also placed under house arrest because she shared a room with Hodges where the narcotics and firearms were located.

Hodges was charged for possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of ammo/firearm as a felon (two counts), felony child abuse, and public intoxication. He received no bond.

Bedsaul was charged for possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule II drug, and felony child abuse. She received no bond as well.
