Trespassing call leads to 3 individuals being arrested on firearm, drug charges in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A call regarding a vehicle that was trespassing on private property Friday evening led to the arrest of three individuals on multiple charges in Montgomery County.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, April 16, deputies were dispatched to the McCoy area for a suspicious vehicle that was trespassing on private property.

Authorities say they found the vehicle, which was occupied by three adults.

Following a brief interaction, deputies requested the aid of a narcotics K9 named Maxx. When the K9 was deployed, the sheriff’s office says Maxx alerted deputies to the vehicle.

According to officials, a search of that vehicle found the following:

  • An illegal firearm
  • Approximately a quarter pound of methamphetamine
  • Heroin
  • Distribution equipment
  • Cash

The following three adults were arrested on the scene and charged with multiple offenses, the sheriff’s office says:

  • Zachary R. Moran, 25, of Elliston
    • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
    • Possession of a concealed weapon
    • Conspiracy possession with intent to distribute
      methamphetamine
Ashley D. Poff
  • Ashley D. Poff, 33, of Radford
    • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
    • Possession of a firearm while possession with intent to distribute Schedule I or II narcotic
    • Possession of a Schedule I or II substance (heroin)
    • Conspiracy possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine >=100g
    • Possession of controlled paraphernalia
Elizabeth N. Hinkley
  • Elizabeth N. Hinkley, 28, of Radford
    • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
    • Possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule I or II narcotic (methamphetamine)
    • Possession of a concealed weapon
    • Possession of a Schedule I or II substance (methamphetamine)
    • Conspiracy possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine >=100g

According to authorities, all three individuals are being held without bond at this time.
