MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Early Saturday morning, multiple emergency crews responded to a report of a train that had collided with a vehicle in the New River Valley.
According to Montgomery County Emergency Services, members of the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department, the Shawsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Officer were dispatched to a crash involving a train and a vehicle at 3:51 a.m. on Saturday, April 17.
Officials say that initial reports indicated that occupants in the vehicle had jumped out just prior to the collision.
When fire and EMS units arrived, they reportedly discovered the vehicle was not occupied at the time of the crash.
In addition, there were no reports of injuries in the incident.
Montgomery County Emergency Services say the train was not damaged, nor did a derailment occur.
The cause of the collision is still being investigated.
