CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A Lebanon man is in custody after being stopped for a traffic violation that resulted in deputies identifying the man as someone wanted on other charges.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a traffic violation in the 6800 block of Double Cabin Road on Monday, Nov. 8.
When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver was identified and the deputy was advised that the driver had multiple warrants out for his arrest, including probation violations and possession of narcotics from Washington County.
The driver, 51-year-old Sheldon Bernard Gray of Lebanon, was arrested without incident.
The deputy was able to get consent to search the vehicle.
During the search, the deputy found a lockbox that had digital scales and PVC pipe which contained a large amount of a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine. The driver reportedly admitted that the substance was meth.
A continued search of the vehicle found additional methamphetamine.
Gray is being charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He is being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.
