FLOYD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Three kids involved in a Floyd County custody battle have been tracked down after they were reportedly kidnapped from a school bus Thursday morning.

According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, Aug. 18, two women interfered with a Floyd County school bus during its morning route.

Authorities say one of the women falsely claimed there was a family emergency and took three children — who are the subject of a custody dispute in the Floyd County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court — from the bus.

Officials tell WFXR News they learned the women — who live in South Carolina — were the kids’ mother and grandmother.

The sheriff’s office says it determined the women were traveling south and soon crossed into North Carolina. As a result, warrants for abduction and conspiracy to abduct have reportedly been issued and served.

According to authorities, the children in question were found safe and sound.

As of this writing, officials say this investigation is still ongoing.
