Three arrested for drug charges following overnight traffic stop, Wythe County authorities say

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Three people are facing various drug charges after a traffic stop late Wednesday night, according to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say an ongoing narcotics investigation led to the traffic stop at mile marker 42 on I-77 shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21 by the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office and the Claytor Lake Drug Task Force.

During this stop, the sheriff’s office says approximately 175 grams of methamphetamine were seized, as well as digital scales and baggies.

According to Wythe County officials, Adam Franklin Ashby, Regina Ashley Blankenship, and Aaron Walker Sharp, Jr. were arrested and are being held without bond.

The sheriff’s office says all three subjects were charged with the following four charges:

  • Possession of 100 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
  • Conspiracy to possess 100 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
  • Transporting into the Commonwealth of Virginia with intent to distribute one ounce or more of Schedule 1 or 2 narcotics
  • Conspiracy to transporting into the Commonwealth of Virginia with intent to distribute one ounce or more of Schedule 1 or 2 narcotics
