Students make cards for Wytheville teacher with family in Ukraine

WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Students with disabilities are showing their support for a Minnick School teacher in Wytheville whose family is struggling to survive the war in Ukraine.

While the ongoing conflict is thousands of miles away from the Commonwealth, it’s just a FaceTime call away for Yana Blevins, who grew up in Russia and teaches at Minnick Education Center in Wytheville.

Blevins spoke with WFXR News’ Charmayne Brown and Evan Johnson on “Good Day Virginia” about her family in Ukraine, as well as the support shown by the students at Minnick School.
