CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — State troopers have already been dispatched to multiple northbound crashes within a two mile stretch of I-77 in Carroll County Monday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, state troopers started responding to several crashes along I-77 North between mile marker 6.5 and mile marker 8 shortly after 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22.

Police say they are still investigating these crashes and crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are on scene to help with traffic control and debris removal.

Officials encourage motorists to avoid the area because of multiple lane closures and very slick conditions.

At the time of this writing, VDOT says there is only one crash scene still active along this stretch of I-77 North.

More specifically, at mile marker 8 on I-77, northbound motorists are delayed for about one mile because of a tractor-trailer crash, but there are no lane closures in place, according to VDOT.
