CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR)– If you want to see Santa Claus this year, look no further than on top of a fire truck!

Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Department is spreading some holiday cheer through its ‘Santa’s Coming to Town’ event.

The goal of this event centers around happiness, and a whole lot of holiday cheer.

Families gathered around their Christiansburg neighborhood to watch Santa on his big red sleigh.

The event started during the pandemic when people were not able to get together.

“Our citizens loved it so much that we decided to keep it growing, and every year it is growing a little bit,” said Christina Edney, Public Relation Director for the Town of Christiansburg.

Now, this year Santa is back deckin’ the halls with the gift of giving.

“This year, we are doing a charitable component which we are also really excited about. We are collecting donations, non-perishable food items and we are donating them to a local charity,” said Edney.

The lucky organization of choice is the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program,” which meets the needs of low-income, unemployed, elderly, handicapped people, and families.

To donate all you have to do is leave bags of canned goods at the end of your driveway, and Santa and his elves will pick it up as he drives around and says, “Hello!”

Since the event was postponed last week due to inclement weather, December 20th is the last day for you to see Santa in your Christiansburg neighborhood.
