WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Rural Retreat Volunteer Fire Department reported responding to a fire along with Rural Retreat EMS on Saturday.

According to reports, the volunteer fire department was sent to the 800 block of Crouse Hollow Road at 6:12 p.m. on Jan. 14. for a possible brush fire.

They say when they arrived, there was an outbuilding with heavy fire and a propane tank venting into the residence.

Reports say, Rural Retreat firefighters as well as the Speedwell firefighters were able to cool and extinguish the propane tanks. They also were able to handle the fire, preventing extension to the residence.

The Rural Retreat Volunteer Fire Department says the fire started from an outdoor wood stove area.
