PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — If you’re looking for a way to cool off in the summer heat, Randolph Park Pool is opening up on Monday, but only to Pulaski County residents.
According to Pulaski County Parks and Rec, starting on Monday, July 5, the Randolph Park Pool will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. However, due to a staffing shortage, the pool will not be able to open on Saturdays and Sundays this year.
“We respectfully ask for public understanding and extreme patience with our 2021 policies,” Pulaski County Parks and Rec said in a statement on Thursday, July 1. “Returning back to normalcy from a global pandemic is proving to be extremely challenging all across our country.”
In addition, the department says there will be a daily maximum capacity of 250 people. In order to enter the pool, you will need a valid driver’s license proving you are a Pulaski County resident or a utility bill, tax bill, or similar document that matches the name on your driver’s license and shows that you own property in Pulaski County.
“Our main priority is to keep patrons safe. If staffing issues become a problem, we will always side with safety and not open the pool. Under no circumstances will Randolph Park pool open if not fully staffed. A pool that is fully staffed is the only way to provide a safe and fun swim experience for county residents. We will not compromise on safety!”Pulaski County Parks and Recreation
Officials say there will be a waitlist system in place for when the pool reaches its capacity of 250 patrons, but you must be physically present at the park in order to be added to the waitlist. You will then receive the waitlist application in the form of a text message, saying that spaces are available for your party. However, if you do not respond to that text in a timely fashion, you will receive a voice call.
If you have any questions, you are asked to call the front desk at (540) 674-1513, ext. 3.
According to the department, the Randolph Park Pool will not have in-house concessions this summer due to the limited patron capacity, but food that is normally not permitted — such as fast food products — will be allowed at this pool for the 2021 season.
