RADFORD, Va. (WFXR) — On Wednesday night, Radford City Public Schools approved a request to make some changes to its 2021-2022 calendar. The district has also announced a few positive coronavirus cases among elementary and secondary students.
Some of the notable changes include holding teacher professional development and data days on Thursday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Oct. 22, which means schools will be closed on those days.
Two student days will also be added to the end of the school year on June 2-3, 2022, according to school officials. The last day of school will be set for June 3, 2022, with a two-hour early release.
You can see all the changes made to the calendar in the Radford City Public Schools’ Facebook post from Thursday, Sept. 16:
The district also shared an update on coronavirus cases among students on Thursday.
Since Monday, Sept. 13, school officials say four students at secondary schools tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in four classroom letters being sent home. At the elementary schools, there has only been one student reported with a positive test, with no need to send home a classroom letter.
