TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A motorcyclist from Pulaski County died at the hospital Monday after crashing along Route 16 in Tazewell County.

Virginia State Police say the single-vehicle fatal crash took place shortly before 3:15 p.m. on Monday, May 31 on Route 16, just over a mile north of Route 601/Freestone Valley Drive.

According to authorities, a 2018 Harley-Davidson was heading south as it came through a curve on Route 16, ran off the right side of the road, went through the ditch, and hit an embankment.

The motorcyclist — 75-year-old Jerry D. White of Pulaski — was brought to Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police say.

White was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
