DUBLIN, Va. (WFXR) — Pulaski County Public Schools continues to mourn the recent loss of Debbie Griffith, a longtime employee of Dublin Elementary School whose son faces a murder charge after her death earlier this week.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Griffith was found dead inside a Dublin home with apparent gunshot wounds after deputies were dispatched to a complaint about possible gunshots at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney says the 58-year-old woman’s son — 28-year-old William Tyler Griffith — faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with her death. He is currently being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.

In a statement on Friday, Nov. 26, the school district offered condolences to all of Griffith’s family, friends, colleagues, and students:

Pulaski County Public Schools says central office staff and additional counselors will be available for students and faculty at Dublin Elementary School beginning Monday, Nov. 29.
