PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Pulaski County Public Schools is getting ahead of the curve and has already approved calendars for the upcoming 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years.
“We wanted to be proactive and set the calendars early and ahead of schedule in an effort to give teachers, staff and parents extra time to make plans,” said Dr. Kevin Siers, superintendent of Pulaski County Public Schools. “We went through a process that involved input from various stakeholders in the community and school system to make this happen, and we greatly appreciate all of their input. We were able to put together a schedule that we think everyone will be pleased with.”
Information used to determine dates such as start dates and end dates and teacher work days was gathered using surveys distributed to board members, staff, teachers, students and parents.
Two different but similar calendars were created with varying start and end of school dates.
The calendars were presented to the board as well as teacher, staff, parent and student advisory groups for consideration before one was chosen and approved Tuesday, Dec. 14.
For the 2022-23 school year, teachers will return Aug. 4, 2022 for a teacher work day.
On the next day, Aug. 5,2022, there will be a school-based Professional Development Day followed by Convocation.
PCPS Students will return to school Aug. 11, 2022.
