Police identify victim of Friday’s fatal crash on Route 460 in Giles County

GILES COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police have identified the individual killed in the Giles County crash on Route 460 on Friday morning.

According to police, around 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 64-year-old James E. Sanders of Pembroke was driving a 1990 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck west on Route 460 — a short distance from Route 758 — when it ran off the left side of the road, crossed the median into eastbound traffic, left that side of the road, and overturned.

Sanders, who was not wearing a seat belt, died from his injuries after being transferred to Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg.

The investigation into the crash continues.
