DUBLIN, Va. (WFXR) – New and returning students at New River Community College (NRCC) can now begin registration for fall 2021 semester.
NRCC plans to offer more traditional in-person course offerings in the fall than have been possible recently, with hybrid and online courses.
The fall 2021 semester includes courses in more than 90 degree, diploma and certificate programs, as well as short-term workforce development offerings.
The traditional 14-week fall semester begins Aug. 23.
NRCC will also offer both 10 and seven-week sessions during the fall.
The 10-week session begins Sept. 22 whereas the first seven-week session begins Aug. 23 and the second seven-week session begins Oct. 12.
Students who need financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition have several options including the new G3 program which offers funding to low-and-middle-income students who are looking to get an education in high-demand fields. This funding covers the cost of tuition at community colleges across Virginia.
Also, the Re-Employing Virginians (REV) program is available for qualifying Virginia residents who have lost a full-or-part-time job due to the pandemic, who also filed for unemployment benefits on or after Aug. 1, 2020.
Summer 2021 class registration is also open to those who need to catch up on a class or who want to plan to get ahead in their program of study, or for students who want to take classes that can transfer to their four-year college or university in the fall.
