UPDATE 12:19 p.m.: VDOT says all lanes were reopened at the scene of Wednesday morning’s multi-vehicle crash at mile marker 120.7 on I-81 South.
In addition, VDOT says crews have cleared the scene of the northbound vehicle crash at mile marker 118 on I-81.
UPDATE 9:26 a.m.: Officials say a detour is in place following the multi-vehicle crash closing off I-81 South in Montgomery County.
According to VDOT, all southbound lanes are still closed at mile marker 120 — causing a two mile delay from the scene of the crash — but traffic is being detoured at exit 128 onto Route 603 and Route 11/460.

Meanwhile, VDOT says the vehicle crash at mile marker 118.5 on I-81 North has been cleared, but another crash has been reported at mile marker 118 on I-81 North. The new crash has closed the northbound exit ramp and the Exit 118C off ramp.
UPDATE 8:52 a.m.: VDOT says all southbound lanes are now closed at mile marker 120.7 on I-81 following a multi-vehicle crash, which has now backed up Montgomery County traffic for approximately two miles.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Crews are working multiple crash scenes within a three mile stretch along I-81 in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says the southbound right shoulder is closed at mile marker 120.7 on I-81 due to a multi-vehicle crash.
Meanwhile, according to VDOT, the northbound right shoulder is closed at mile marker 118.5 on I-81 due to a different vehicle crash.
While VDOT has not reported delays connected to either of these crashes, Montgomery County Emergency Services asks motorists to stay off the roads due to multiple wrecks around mile marker 120 shutting down I-81 South.
