UPDATE: Congestion cleared after multi-vehicle crash is cleared on I-77 north in Carroll County

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: Congestion behind a cleared multi-vehicle crash has thinned out and traffic has returned to normal volumes.


UPDATE 3:50 p.m.: The multi-vehicle crash on I-77 north near Fancy Gap has been cleared; however, residual backlogs are still being shown on VDOT traffic cameras in the region.

VDOT cameras as far as four miles behind where the crash scene was – mile marker 9.4 – are still showing bumper-to-bumper traffic with slow forward speeds, so continue to expect slowdowns as this congestion continues to thin out.


CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A multi-vehicle crash is snarling traffic on a section of I-77 near Fancy Gap in Carroll County.

According to VDOT, the crash is located at mile marker 9.4.

VDOT says no lanes are currently closed; however, there are approximately four miles worth of backlogs behind the crash scene.

Drivers are urged to find another route around this crash.
