More than $83 million set aside to bring passenger rail service to New River Valley

(WFXR) — WFXR News did some digging overnight and found more money has been set aside to bring passenger rail service to the New River Valley.

Virginia’s newly-approved budget includes more than $83 million to extend rail service from Roanoke to Christiansburg.

Some of that money would also go towards a study that would extend service as far as Bristol, as well as look at costs needed to bring a rail station to Bedford.
