UPDATE: Appalachian Power says power restored to 1,300+ Wythe County customers after outage

UPDATE 8:14 a.m.: Appalachian Power restored power to more than 1,300 customers in Wythe County who were impacted by Thursday morning’s outage.

In addition, Wytheville Community College says power has been restored to campus.


UPDATE 7:37 a.m.: Due to the Appalachian Power outage affecting 1,348 customers in Wythe County, Wytheville Community College says the campus will be closed until noon on Thursday.

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — More than 1,300 Appalachian Power customers in Wythe County are without power Thursday morning because of a single outage in the Wytheville area.

As of 6:58 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, the company says 1,348 customers are impacted by the outage, which was first reported at 6:08 a.m.

Appalachian Power estimates service will be restored by noon on Thursday, but did not offer an explanation for the cause of the outage.
