UPDATE 6:40 a.m.: According to VDOT, the multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery County has been cleared and all lanes have been reopened at mile marker 119, but it may take some time for the milelong backup on I-81 North to clear up.
UPDATE 6:14 a.m.: VDOT has now closed several northbound and southbound lanes on I-81 because of Friday morning’s multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery County.
In addition to the northbound left shoulder, left lane, and right lane, VDOT says the southbound left shoulder and left lane are also shut down at mile marker 119 on I-81.
There is still no word on the extent of the delays resulting from this crash.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Montgomery County motorists can expect delays Friday morning because of a multi-vehicle crash closing all travel lanes on I-81 North.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the northbound left shoulder, left lane, and right lane are closed at mile marker 119 on I-81.
While VDOT has not provided an estimate of the current delays, traffic cameras show northbound motorists starting to pile up at mile marker 118.5 and then at a standstill at mile marker 119.4.
