MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Montgomery County school officials announced on Monday that three additional teacher workdays will be added to the schedule for the fall semester as teachers continue to deal with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in the classroom.
According to Montgomery County Public Schools, the school board approved teacher workdays on Friday, Oct. 29; Monday, Nov. 15; and Thursday, Dec. 9. Students will not have to report to school on these three days.
The district says part of the reason behind this change was to provide teachers with more time to address the extra workload that comes with educating students amid the pandemic.
During these teacher workdays, school officials say that school-based childcare centers will be open to help families who have childcare needs. However, the Boys and Girls Club will not operate on these days.
