MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Montgomery County first responders spent their snowy morning fighting the flames at a dog kennel after neighbors reportedly heard an explosion on Thursday.

According to Montgomery County Emergency Services, members of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department, Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Longshop McCoy Fire were dispatched to a structure fire the morning of Thursday, Jan. 28.

Officials say the neighbors initially reported seeing smoke and flames after hearing an explosion.

When crews arrived at the scene, they reportedly discovered heavy smoke and flames coming from a dog kennel, so they made a quick fire attack to limit the damage to the structure.

Not only did all of the dogs make it out of the kennel unharmed, but there were no reports of any human injuries, Montgomery County Emergency Services says.
