UPDATE: Crash cleared on I-81 North after tractor-trailer caused miles-long backup in Wythe County

UPDATE 5:44 p.m.: A crash that caused a delay for several miles has been cleared on Interstate 81 North in Wythe County, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The crash involved a tractor-trailer that forced a northbound lane to close down to traffic near mile marker 68.

UPDATE 5:10 p.m.: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reported that no lanes are closed following a Tuesday afternoon tractor-trailer crash along Interstate 81 North.

Although there are no lanes closed, drivers are still dealing with a four-mile delay in Wythe County. The crash happened at mile marker 68.

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Following a Tuesday afternoon tractor-trailer crash along I-81 North, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says traffic is delayed for several miles in Wythe County.

The department says the northbound left lane and left shoulder are currently closed at mile marker 68 on I-81.

According to VDOT, traffic is backed up for approximately four miles at this time.

Motorists are reportedly getting around the scene of the wreck using the right shoulder on I-81 North.
