(WFXR) — An Albemarle County man faces multiple charges following a police chase through several localities in the New River Valley Wednesday afternoon.
The incident started shortly before 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 when members of the Galax Police Department began a pursuit of a BMW sedan, according to Virginia State Police.
As the pursuit continued through Carroll County, officials say that state troopers joined the Galax police officers to help with the chase.
Then, once the BMW reached Grayson County, Virginia State Police tell WFXR News they stopped the car at Old Baywood Road and Grammer Lane.
The driver — identified by authorities as 29-year-old Eric Frazier of Earlysville — was taken into custody before being treated and released from a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
According to Virginia State Police, Frazier was arrested for the following charges:
- DUI (second offense)
- One felony count of possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute
- One felony count of eluding police
- One count of driving on a revoked license (DUI related)
- Reckless driving
- Using a cellular phone while driving
Frazier is reportedly being held at New River Valley Regional Jail.
