Man dies in Wythe County crash; vehicle not found until several days later, police say

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A Carroll County man is dead after being involved in a fatal crash in Wythe County, which police believe took place more than a week before the wreck site was discovered.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2004 Ford Explorer was pulling a utility trailer north along Route 100/Wysor Highway when it ran off the left side of the road, went over an embankment, and overturned less than a mile south of Greenbriar Road.

Authorities say 57-year-old David W. Parish of Woodlawn, was wearing a seatbelt, but still died at the scene of the crash.

Police tell WFXR News they believe the incident took place on Saturday, Oct. 23, but the Ford was not found until shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.

As of this writing, this fatal crash is still under investigation, according to officials.
