BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — History in the making, as the Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball Team competes in their first-ever elite-eight tournament.
In downtown Blacksburg, there were only three ways to describe the March 27th game; excitement, hard work, and success.
Many hokie fans say the ladies are doing a tremendous job, saying they clicked instantly as a team and are making things happen on the court.
Earlier one fan told WFXR News, with all their hard work they are fighting for that championship win.
“It’s been electric to watch. I love the offense. Georgia Amoore has really been clicking, and Kitely is always great,” said Alex Feuerstein, a Hokie Fan.
Another Hokie Fan says she is watching games for specific members of the team.
“I just think Georgia Amoore is really good. She is just carrying the team. They are all so amazing, but there is something about her like the way she rebounds so easily. They all as a collective, they are cohesive as a team,” said Macon Putney, another Hokie Fan.
Earlier today, I spoke with the University spokesperson, Mark Owczarski says they are seeing more fans buying into the women’s basketball apparel.
He says the money made from the uptick in sales gets put right back into students’ scholarships.
