MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After hours of fighting a large house fire on Little River Dam Road, the Montgomery County Fire-EMS Department says a person may be involved in starting the blaze.
The call came in around 2:24 p.m. on March 12 when several crews were dispatched to the 3000 block of Little River Dam Road. At the scene, firefighters found a home fully engulfed in flames and immediately began searching the house.
During the search, crews learned the house was vacant and fire officials determined the interior was not safe to continue a full response. Firefighters then immediately evacuated and began attacking the fire from outside.
Crews stayed on the scene for approximately three hours before the fire was completely extinguished. The home was considered a total loss and there were no reported injuries.
Fire officials say the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it appears that an individual may be involved.
