Hikers rescued from abandoned mines by Twin County first responders appearing in court Friday

New River Valley News

CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Three hikers who had to be rescued after getting lost in an abandoned New River Valley mine in March are set to appear in court Friday morning.

According to the Galax Gazette, Hannah Hardy, Laura Puckett, and Natalie Puckett are being charged with trespassing on posted property.

This comes after dozens of first responders from several different agencies were a part of a search for the hikers on March 30 that lasted more than two hours.

If convicted, they could face up to one year in jail, a $2,500 fine, or both.

The court hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, April 30.
